Snoring & Sleep Apnea

Snoring can impact the quality of your own sleep and that of those around you.  It is imperative to determine whether a patient simply snores or has deeper underlying health issues with their sleep condition.  We consult with sleep physicians and psychologists to try and diagnose what the particular sleep disorder may entail.  If it is determined that we can help our patients in the treatment of this condition, we customize an oral appliance to their particular needs and requirements.  Typically these appliances position the lower jaw and tongue forward, thereby preventing pressure on the larynx. The appliance may also open the bite to facilitate the airway.  We are happy to offer free consultation and testing to try and help you treat your sleeping disorder.

What are the causes of snoring?

  • Sleeping on your back

  • When the larynx is compressed by a relaxed jaw

  • Large tonsils or a long soft palate

  • Body mass and neck circumference

  • Tongue moving backward and obstructing the airway

  • Small recessed lower jaw

  • Narrow and high vaulted palate
