Regular Cleanings
Dental cleanings and oral health exams are recommended on a regular basis. Exams are essential to ensure that there are no tooth, periodontal (gum) or other oral health problems (such as growths or lesions) present that can only be diagnosed by a license and board certified dental team.
One Visit Zoom Whitening
Zoom Whitening is a LED light activated whitening system that can only be provided by a licensed dental professional. Fillings
Fillings are done when there is a cavity (dental caries) in the tooth or if the tooth has broken slightly. A filling restoration procedure may be done if there is enough healthy tooth structure available to support the tooth colored filling material and bring the tooth back to its original shape.
Bonding
Dental bonding is the procedure utilized with all filling procedures however it may also be performed to close spaces or change the shape and possibly even the color of teeth. The bonding procedure is achieved by treating the tooth surface with a solution to obtain a microscopic mechanical lock of the filling material to the treated tooth surface.
Invisible Orthodontics
Sure Smile orthodontics is a state of the art system allowing for the movement of teeth with a designed sequence of invisible, clear tray aligners that are changed every few weeks. The process is achieved through computerized digital scanning of the teeth and the sequence and eventual anticipated results can be discussed, modified and viewed in the advance of the treatment.
Porcelain Crowns
The porcelain crown encompasses and surrounds the entire tooth body and will provide strength and function and will also restore a natural appearance to the treated tooth.
Veneers
Veneers are partial porcelain crowns that may be used to change the shape or color of a tooth when there is adequate tooth structure and entire coverage of the tooth is not necessary.
Root Canals
Root canals are a procedure performed to save a tooth where the tooth nerve (dental pulp) becomes irritated and painful or has died. The nerve is removed from the body and root portions of the tooth, the chamber is sterilized and then the canals in the root are filled with a material to occupy the space the nerve use to be. The tooth remains in the mouth but no longer has a live nerve in it.
Periodontal Gum Treatments
These treatments are for the supporting gums and bone of the teeth. This condition may be of short term situation, however it is most often a long term chronic and episodic disease that may require the services of both a General Dentist and a Periodontist (a dentist that specializes in treating the supporting structures of the teeth).
Extractions
Extraction is a procedure where a tooth and its roots are completely removed from the mouth. An Extraction is performed when a tooth cannot be saved with any of the above treatment procedures or the expense to save the tooth may not be justified for that particular patient.
Implant Services
When a tooth is missing a dental implant can often times be surgically inserted to replace it. Once the implant body is placed in the bone and it has fully integrated or healed, a post or "abutment" will be placed into the implant body and a crown will be made over the post to give the natural appearance of a tooth.
Permanent Bridges
This procedure may be done when there are teeth strong enough around the missing tooth (or teeth) to receive crowns or bonded support arms. These crowns are attached or cemented to the natural teeth adjacent to the empty space and support the missing tooth replacement(s).
Dentures
Dentures, either full where all teeth are missing, or partial, where many teeth are missing, are a removable prosthesis appliances made by the dentist to replace the missing teeth.
Cosmetic Procedures
Any procedure to enhance an individual’s smile. This may include replacing missing teeth with Permanent Bridges, Implants or Dentures or changing the appearance of a tooth or several teeth. These changes in appearance may be accomplished with dental bonding, veneers, crowns or whitening. The most important aspect of any cometic procedure is to give a “natural” appearance to the smile.
Snoring & Sleep Apnea
At Sleep Apnea San Diego, Dr. Danney is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine specializing in Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) as an alternative to CPAP therapy. He works in coordination with Board Certified Sleep Physicians to assist in the treatment of sleep related breathing disorders, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Snoring.
